From Route Finding to Freight Policy: new freight website for Merseyside - www.merseyfreight.org
The Merseyside and Halton Freight Quality Partnership are launching their website -www.merseyfreight.org - aimed at promoting best practice amongst the freight world.
The site is a "one-stop shop" for all those involved in freight distribution in and around Merseyside or Halton, from policy makers through to operation managers.
With its interactive route finding tool, the site is one of just a few in the country to provide details of road restrictions including height, width and weight. The Merseyside and Halton route finding tool will also include industrial estate locations. The tool will be invaluable for freight drivers in negotiating the region's road network and helping drivers avoid the unsuitable routes that they are often directed along by SatNavs.
Featuring a wealth of fresh content, the new website will include a comprehensive and regularly updated news section and information on the initiatives currently being undertaken by the Partnership. There will be information on freight distribution strategy in Merseyside and Halton, as well as details of forthcoming Freight Quality Partnership meetings.
The site will help to support sustainable distribution policies, providing information on how operators can work with different modes such as road, rail and sea, as well as promoting best practice case studies.
The Freight Quality Partnership plays a key role in the Merseyside Local Transport Plan, bringing together parties involved in road haulage, air cargo, rail freight, land waterborne freight and port related activities across the Merseyside and Halton areas. It works to help deliver some of the key aims of the Local Transport Plan.
